The Oriental Pearl TV Tower
Well, finally had some time to walk around ShangHai, we arrived on Thurday( MidNight) - and since then we have been on the Job rushing from place to place. And Today, 2nd July 4:30pm was our flight back to Guang Zhou and our new met friend in Shang Hai was very kind to bring us around to the town for some photography session. Amazing place.

Some Basic info about this tower:
Located in Pudong Park in Lujiazui, Shanghai, This tower is 468 meters high which is also the world's third tallest TV and radio tower surpassed in height only by towers in Toronto, Canada and Moscow, Russia. Well off course Malaysia's tower is still among the world's tallest tower.
MALAYSIA BOLEH.

Manoj's birthday ....continue. 23rd OCt

After we came down from great wall, we were really knocked out. However, I have promise Vino that Manoj will receive a thrilling birthday gift from Chang Fatt and Myself.....Guess what!!!

Welcome to FEAR FACTOR Bei Jing with host ->Jaeson :P

Since we are all so tired from greatwall... we will make Manoj try just one local dish....
He can choose between Cocon, Insects(dont know what's its called), Seahorse or Scorpion.
In chinese, medical these local desserts helps to boost sexual drive like "Tongkat ALi"

T

Manoj's Choice = "The Scorpion......Satay"

While it was not a easy dish to prepare, these scorpions have to be fresh for serving (which means it has to be alive before cooking ). Here is a picture of how the chief prepares it, Oil again...... don't really know why but people here use what we call "Cement plate" for chooking... hehe its amazing.. may be Ramly burger could also do this. Save cost :P

Ready for Serving,
Long awaited moment..... Its time for Manoj to take it in..

Manoj trying to Chicken out.... thinking twice if he was doing the right thing... Hehehhe

Finally, after long minutes of waiting and persuading.... he stood up as a man and tried it..(Yahoo..)

(Last, piece....he's the man )

It get's more delicious as he takes it, he say's it taste like fried chicken.. Crispy and Yummy.
If you ever come to Bei Jing do remember to try this, its amazing...

Lesson learnt" Fight the chicken off yourself, to find the real man in you" ;P

Continue of 23rd Oct.....

2nd Stop - Jade Shop and Medical Research Center.

Well, it was not stated on the tour map. Kinda like those things which they bring you there and expect you to buy things from them... The Jade shop was not bad, manage to see how they craft the Jade. There was an introduction on differentiating real jade and fake ones, still not too sure after the lessons.

3rd Stop - Great Wall (Finally )
Full of excitement, we finally arrived at the foot of the great wall"Ba Da Ling"

The tour guide gave us two choice, one was to take the sliding cart up the great wall and climb a about 3KM. The other was to climb all the way up from Ba Da ling which was about 6km, however the tour guide did not really encourage us to take the longer way. Kept persuading us to buy the ticket for the Sliding Cart. For me i felt like its more of a money making tactic....
12 of us from the tour voted for the 6km way, trying to be heros.. the oldest in our group was 63years old.

( A friend from french joining us for the climb. His name Guillaume, a student pursuing his masters... )

(Well, it might not look as hard as it really is. The following pictures will give you a glimpse of the magnificent structure and difficult on the stairs. Some of these stairs are almost 90 degrees. I really wonder how they climb these structure during those days)

( Manoj and Chang Fatt catching their breath)

(Our Korea and American friends coming down from the 90 degree stairs, its crazy.. )

(half-dead....goodness these slopes... woosh.. You can see that manoj not feeling too well. The cold wind was blowing at us about 10 Degree Celsius)

At the Peak
Finally after all the struggles, most of the 12 of decided to take the longer way made it to the top of greatwall. This is one of the highest peak along the great wall.

Some Scenery for you to enjoy.

Going Down
Thank God, they made the sliding cart to go down also, i was amazed to see that its like a roller -coaster

Don't worry guys, its not as fast a roller coaster....very slow one.....WIsh it could go faster :P

23rd Oct (Monday) - Tour to Great Wall

While earlier on we had book a One day tour from 8:30am to 6:30pm to visit Great wall and other places, it made us excited and Kiasu. We bought a DVD on "Tour on Beijing" to further educate ourselves on greatwall and watched it the night before.
(The Kiasu.s..s.s.ss..s.s on Bus)

City of Bei Jing
Like washington DC, Bei Jing city is the political hub for the whole china. That's how it got its cultural history from, which out of 13 emperors most of them choose Bei Jing as their base home. With a population of almost 17million ( 13million are local and 4 million are migrants ).
China was founded in 1st Oct 1949, which was founded Mr.Mao whom the communist won the war. Ok, will stop here. For more information: Buy a history book :P

1st Stop (Ming Tomb)
Known also as the 13 tomb, which 13 different emperor was barried here except for the 3 emperor (Story as below, summarise version)

1st Emperor (ZuYuanZhuang) founder of Ming Dynasty with 31years of reign choose Nang Jing instead of Bei Jing as his base.

2nd Emperor(Zhu Yunwen): Grand son of Zu Yuan Zhang who reign the throne at the age of 10year old. The throne was given to him because the Zu Yuan Zhang's First Son died and Zu Yun Wen was the son of this first son. At this time, the second son of Zhu Yuan Zhuang named Zhu Di was not so happy, since the throne could have been his. He tried to seize the throne for himself and succeeded to be the 3rd Emperor, Zhu Yu Wen fled and none of the historian know how he died. (some say that he buried himself).

7th Emperor (Yong Le ): I will leave this to those who has serious intereste in knowing China's history to find out more from this website..http://www.china.org.cn/english/features/atam/115650.htm (enjoy) . Very sleepy to update this blog but as promise i wil try my best.

22nd -23rd Oct (Monday) - Manoj's Birthday.

Time: 00:00 Just before I came over to China, Vino gave a me a CD that was to be delivered for Manoj. Tried to wake manoj out from bed, it requires skill. :P

Time 00:05 Finally, we got Manoj. The power point slides done by Vino and gang was a thoughtful gift to Manoj - You could see love around his face.. although he looks like a Al-Quida member in the picture :P.
22nd Oct (sunday) - Holiday

Yes its a sunday, it was really a rest day for all of us.
Had brunch at this "Mamak" its totally cheap, cost us RM4 /Person.

( Left- BBQ Lamb its delicious, Right - Cement Tao Fu.. Looks gross but taste good)

(Oil Oil Oil..... Yes this is one of Bei Jing's cake very very nice, but the oil is horrible )

Exploring around
After a good meal, we decided to visit Tian An Men square again and also we had heard online that the Olympic Torch Relay will be pass at that place. Although we know that the torch will be coming, we were not too sure when was it.

(Where we travelled)

Along the way, our eyes were caught by this shop. Souvenirs.....Yes. - Cheap Cheap?

(lots of sovenirs and also throat cutting prices )

Once in a lifetime
It was really amazing how we were at the right place at the right time, guards were blocking off vehicles of the road preparing for the relay. Crowds were gathering beside the "Tiananmen Square E Road", many were not sure what was going on but was crowding around to see what was about to happen. The torch finally came and a guy full of beard (looks like the cast away scene) ran along the road and pass the torch to the Chinese lady, to our surprise while this happened nobody cheer for the relay. So boring... :( however, our camera's went out of battery but we had it on video (I think it worth million ))

21st Oct (Saturday) - Freedom.

Finally, this is the last day of the exhibition. The torture is finally over, unlike other exhibition to our surprise by noon most companies has already packed and leave. Here are some pictures taken in the exhibition.

( Locals reading news paper by the roadside)

18th Oct (Wednesday)

------------------------
Exhibition was as usual, just that standing for 8 hours really hurts our legs. Overall exhibition was good, had opportunity to discuss in depth with our prospect.

Where shall we go for dinner?
"NO more steamboat" acclaim by Manoj. We had a major "cut throat" just few days ago and we had learnt from our lesson.
(Picture of Chang Fatt starring at the steamboat )

S

o we took a taxi to “Tian An Men” Square for food, after having our meal we had a relaxing walk around that area.

17th Oct (Tuesday)
----------------------
Got up and dreading to go to the exhibition, I really felt like going back to Malaysia(off course I did not act on it :P). We arrived at the exhibition hall ready but was inform that we had to wait 30mins before we can enter the hall. Took some pictures while waiting.

Thank God that everything work out well, Grumpy was totally changed!!!!! I could not believe my eyes but he began to speak to us nicely. Its really an incredible experience, God changes the whole situation into a positive experience, teach me/us to work with different kind of people.

After exhibition, we were at Carrefour shopping for exhibition materials. While Manoj has always been in his “NYPD” suite, I had suggested to him many times to get a proper jacket. '

In China, sizes aren’t that difficult to find you just have to make sure that you count the “X”s correctly before purchasing… .Hahahah… We had a hard time counting the number of “X”s on the jacket’s label.

Goodness... this would fit a Giant in Malaysia....hahah

Surprise, Surprise....Oh My Goodness!!!
Eunice I should have listen to you, did not know what came across my mind but felt like I should take a hair cut……That is so wrong.. and now I am paying the price..

I just could not believe my eyes, after the haircut... Its Horrible.....
"Well,Confidence does not depend on your outlook its whats in you"
God Help me........ I look like an idiot...

16th Oct (Mon)
------------------
The three of us decided to change hotel, spent the 1 hr in morning calling up hotels and finally found a cheaper hotel to stay in (Saving some money for the company). After checking in to the new hotel, (nearer to “Wang Fu Jing”) we went over to the exhibition hall to setup our remaining system,

Upon arrival, we greeted the locals and it seems like they were not too happy with us being late. However, as an understanding we are to setup our own booth with the structure already fully inplace.

For privacy purpose, I wont reveal names.. ... Mr. Grumpy(Mr.G) will be used as a replacement.

Well, don’t really know if guys has PMS (girls monthly thing – Check dictionary for definition ) but seems like when we started setting up, everything we do is all wrong and there’s always some thing that can be pin pointed on us. Grumpy started speaking rudely, saying things should be done in a certain way. While I kept trying to explain the blueprint of what we are about to do, he just would not listen.. Goodness…..

I felt so frustrated and the worst things that comes is that when he starts to call us names such as “Dumb”, ”Simple things like this also don’t know” and etc….
It really gets me…….

While all Christian know that we should “love and forgive”, seriously at that point I felt like giving him a hot punch on his face and make sure none of his friends recognizes him. But thank God, in morning before leaving to the exhibition hall I came across these words in Chang Fatt’s Handphone. “Be tolerant for a moment and the waves and wind will be calm, giving others an additional step the skies will be blue” (haha..my own translation for this Chinese quote.) Holy spirit uses these words in guiding me to cool myself down.
While we had to extend another 30min compared with the others from the same booth, Grumppy and gang was assign to wait for us. While finished with what we needed to do, we were cleaning up. Grumpy said that we are not respecting him by informing him that we were done (While from our point of view we wanted to help to clean up the place before we leave), at this point I could not take it anymore so we left the hall. However not far before we walked away, holy spirit convicted me to say sorry to him. I felt humiliating, saying sorry to someone that I did not even do any wrong. Being Obedient, I responded and went back to say that I am sorry and ask for forgiveness.( I can’t believe either, don’t ask why)

On my way back to the hotel, friends were saying that why should be so kind (still talk properly to him with respect) to such a guy. Frankly, I felt that it wasn’t me that was responding to the situation calmly but the Holy Spirit was helping me in making the right decisions (to response in calmness and stability.)

Lesson learnt No.1: Always remember this, as a Christian “ Dying to life – Die to our fleshly desires” Very hard… but its attainable. God help us.

Lesson learnt No.2: I might not have address Grumpy properly, Remember that in the northern people would like to be address with a Mr/Sir/Guru…etc.

Sorry for writing so long, but really felt I should share it.

Dinner
--------
We ate a nearby Chinese restaurant, while trying not to order too expensive dishes we choose our dishes with a budget constraint 3 dish + Chinese Tea (Tie Kuan Ying) . The Food was good just a too much oil(generally all the food here are very oily, apparently the chinese believe that the oil makes the dishes looks better).

To our surprise, the bill came and the most expensive item on the bill was the Chinese Tea(Tie Kuan Ying), its RMB25 = RM12.5 for a small pot. Surprise!!!!!!
3 of us where laughing at the day, what would be the next surprise…

Chang Fatt could not believe his eyes, this pot of tea is expensive.

15th Oct (Sun)
----------------
Arise and shine(7pm- sun is shinning bright -Goodness), after a trilling night I was surprise that our stomach did not complain. Yes, after all the years of training at the mamak stalls (Stall that open almost 24hours in Malaysia with "conducive" environment etc, by the drain, by the tree… pretty good for chatting). I believe our stomach is season for a time as this :P

Our setup lasted about 6hours at the exhibition hall, face with pressure working with new faces and culture differences. I concluded that the setup was somehow had some heat between the local technicians and us.

Overall, I believe that communication has to be clear. Seems like both parties thinks that he is in charge.
